About the Conference:
The second annual Students Abroad for Growth and Excellence (SAGE) Study Abroad Conference provides an array of information to college and university students who have recently returned from a study abroad experience. Developed by a committee of volunteers in the study abroad field, the conference will offer sessions in adjusting to re-entry, becoming an advocate for study abroad, marketing your international experience, exploring careers in international fields, finding opportunities to go abroad again, and integrating your international experience into your career as a junior officer . Dr. Robert R. Greene Sands, Senior Research Fellow at Institute for the Study of Language and Culture at Norwich University
Dr. Sands is an accomplished speaker, presenter and lecturer. He routinely presents on culture and language to such populations as Foreign Area Officers, DIA, National Geospatial Agency (NGA) and other groups of intelligence analysts and attaches, military linguists, and USAF Air Mobility personnel. He has presented to US Africa Command, Defense Language and National Security and Education Office, Interagency Language Roundtable, and other DoD and USG organizations and agencies.
Dr. Sands has researched and published on cross-cultural competence, the importance of culture to military populations, and the use of environmental and cultural security in partnership building. He is the author of six books and numerous chapters and articles on topics including cross-cultural competence, environmental security, building partnerships and sustainability, sport and culture, ethnographic theory, and the cognitive origins of religion. He is currently co-editing a seminal volume on 3C in the military.
